4-A-Change was started by brothers, Mike and John Trapp. It is an attempt to build a sustainable venture while avoiding both a board of directors and employees. Mike left the organization in 2021. At the start of 2025, former employee Evan Lawrence became a full partner. John served for 12 years as a practice manager at Tod Mikuriya, MD an alternative medical clinic in Berkeley California working with a harm reduction approach. John established the practice and developed all forms, processes, and an electronic health record system. John has experience working in the environmental and social justice fields, working as a grass roots organizer as well as working on political campaigns and working for a political action committee. Besides running 4-A- Change, John is also Executive Director for Room at the Inn Columbia, a 100 person homeless shelter. Evan joined 4-A-Change in May of 2024 and quickly proved himself exemplary at homeless outreach, case management, coaching and referral, and harm reduction. Evan was able to utilize his unique background and thirst to help others to quickly transition from employee to partner.

Current Long-Term Contracts A unique contract with Columbia’s Downtown Community Improvement District to aid struggling individuals. An outreach and case management contract with the city of Columbia Missouri.
